The standard aluminium grain refiner for wrought and casting alloys. Al-Ti-B master alloys contain TiB\u2082 particles and dissolved titanium, which together provide a large number of nucleation sites during solidification, producing a fine, equiaxed grain structure. Al-B master alloys are used in electrical-grade (EC) aluminium production to remove titanium and vanadium from solid solution by precipitating them as borides. This reduces electrical resistivity to meet EC conductor standards.
